Hello, my name is Raelyn Dawn Zelinski and I am professionally trained makeup artist who if I might add, is completely in love with her job! I wasn't ever the one in high school who wore makeup daily or kept any form of makeup in her purse. No, what I kept in my purse was a sketch book and sharpie markers in every colour imaginable. When I graduated high school in 2006, I, like most people in my class, was unsure about 'what I wanted to do with my life.' I jumped around from so many different ideas; Arts Education Teacher, Animator, Interior Designer, Hair Stylist, Web Designer, Graphic Artist.. just to name a few. While trying to figure out what I had wanted as a career I took classes at The Neil Bawkwill Civics Art Centre, mainly in drawing.
In April of 2008 I enrolled at Richard's Beauty & Esthetics College's Advanced Make-up Artistry Program here in Regina, SK. I loved every moment in the course! While I was attending Richard's, Regina Summer Stage had asked the students to help out with their July 2008 production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast and well let's just say the second I entered the backstage doors I was completely head-over-heels in love with the theatre! (Or as we joke now with newcomers in theatre who fall in love with it, I had 'drank the kool-aid!')
I then graduated from Richard's shortly after at the end of July with a Diploma in Advanced makeup Artistry. I then went on to provide makeup applicatins for the most beautiful brides in Saskatchewan, Posh & Pink Fashin Forum in March 2011 and I continued my love affair with the theatre. I volunteered with Regina Little Theatre as a Makeup Artist from October 2008 - March 2010, I then was the Hair and Makeup Coordinator for RLT from March 2010 - June 2011. I continued with Summer Stage for the next two years; Grease in 2009 and My Fair Lady in 2010 where I was Head of Hair and Makeup Department.
The course that I had taken at Richard's was only three months short and I felt there was so much more to learn. So on June 27, 2011 I started school at Complections International Academy of Makeup Artistry in Toronto, ON where I was instructed by acclaimed makeup artists Barbara Alexander, Kelly McCallum, Lesley Olson, Kyle Glencross and Neil Morrill. I recently graduated with The Comprehensive Makeup Artist Diploma on January 6, 2012.
Since grauating and moving back to Saskatchewan, I am doing photo-shoots with some amazing local photographers, I have a booth at the upcoming bridal show this February 'Bridal Aisle Open House', & most recently I have been asked to return to Regina Little Theatre.
